January 2025 Member Spotlight: Lisa Houser

I am Lisa Houser—Italian, Scorpio, New York Transplant to the NW. I like to say I am a triple threat. I have lived in Vancouver for just over 30 years. I married the most amazing guy I should not be matched with, 2 daughters who are powerhouses, and a grandson who is my daughter’s Karma... lol. In my personal life, I love to learn about all things business, personal growth, and self-discovery. I want the world to be a better place because I am in it and leave it even better. I want to be at every event and fundraiser giving any way I can. I love the spa, massages, quiet weekends, crazy weekends, small gathering and big ones, adapting to most situations.

Professionally, I have been an award-winning master hairstylist for over 37 years. I have done hair for fashion shows, runway shows, competitions, and tv shows. A member of Intercoiffure (a group of the top salon owners in the nation). My dream was actually to be a mechanic, with a love for classic cars, but high school wouldn’t allow me, so I tried cosmetology and here I am. I opened Utopia Salon in 2004 with a desire for more, to show my girls they can do and be anything they want. My purpose is to create an inviting comfortable atmosphere for everyone to have an amazing experience while bringing out their inner beauty through hair. To change the stigma of hairstylists and our industry. To help my team and hairstylists feel empowered, to develop the whole person, to be the best version of themselves they can be, to understand business, finances, self-worth, etc. For me, it is more than just hair for everyone who walks through the doors of Utopia Salon. For me, it is more than just hair, it changes lives.
